Boston-Power Eyes Exploding Laptop Battery Market
November 6th, 2006 by hubcapper
Startup Boston-Power announced an $8M Series A venture financing from Venrock Associates and Gabriel Venture Partners. The Westborough company aims to develop new Lithium-ion battery technology to power mobile devices including laptops, mobile phones, and PDAs.
Boston-Power was founded in 2005 by Dr. Christina Lampe-Onnerud, who previously researched battery technology at Arthur D. Little and Bell Labs. The company has 23 employees and does its manufacturing in Shenzen, China.
In light of recent events, now might be just the time to go after the market for safer — much less higher performing and lower cost — battery solutions.
